Zhang Yining is officially my new sports hero! :) i just can't help but put down everything i'm doing and STARE at the tv screen whenever she plays. her pingpong is... ART. like no other. :) haha.
i'd been seriously down in the dumps in lab the early part of this week but things are better now. i actually nearly teared with joy this morning when i saw my beautiful cells finally alive and well under the microscope. HAHA.
and it's pretty fun now that i get the hang of using the hypoxia chamber. my lab peeps call it a UFO haha.
omg. i eat, sleep and breathe SH-SY5Y cells now. they're like my life. it's amazing how my mood changes according to how my cells are doing.
that is SO not a happy thought.
you know how something (read: lab) is taking over your life when all you can blog about is that something. haha.
i'm still surviving trying to plan my time well between going to lab and going for lectures. marked improvement this week, cos i didn't miss a single lecture! woot. i love being a geek :D haha. i hate missing this sem's lectures cos they're cheem especially pharmacogen OMG. i can afford to miss stats though, cos it's like no point going cos i don't understand the lecturer's accent at all and he mumbles to himself most of the time.
my dad and bro're leaving on a jet plane to Adelaide now as i'm typing this. i wanna go on a holiday too!! :( zzz.

watching the repeat of the table-tennis semis now! whee! it's still damn exciting even though we all know the end score already lol.
Honours year is slowly taking a toll on me, and it's only the end of the first week! like omg. :(
i had a total of 7 lectures this week, of which i missed one, left early for two, and went late for two, all because of lab. i wonder what's gonna become of me when all the assignments and presentations come along.
and i just came back from yet another futile 8am-10pm day in the lab.
i wonder why so many others seem to have it so easy :( i'm so not cut out for this.
and the modules this sem! omg. Year 3 seems like a walk in the park compared to now can. :(
zzz. i shall concentrate on the pingpong now and not think about anything else. i actually kind of love table-tennis, even though i suck at it. i wonder why i didn't appreciate it this much back in secondary school. lol!

must blog about this cos it's a significant event in my life!
Pathology -- my first ever R21 movie. hahaha. (Brokeback wasn't counted cos i wasn't legal yet and we only watched snippets in ohm's hall LOL.)
it was... disturbing, with lack of a better word. i was cringing like crazy towards the end of it haha. i kinda like the show, cos it makes you think long after it ends, and you get goosebumps the more you think about it. lol. but ya, it was pretty disturbing.
there was this woman sitting beside me in the theatre who was actually having her DINNER while watching the show. i was wondering how she could keep it all down. haha.

Toxicology seems fun :) yayy. haven't attended any of the rest yet. not taking Marine Bio after all, cos the cons outweigh the pros :( lol.
new year, new semester, new beginning. even though it seemed like i already started school like two months ago. the very last year of my academic life (i think); must treasure the times in school and make the best of it :))
i miss being a freshman, or even a sophomore; all that wide-eyed innocence and the hunger and excitement for things to come. i miss the times when i didn't feel jaded about life, about how time waits for no one, about the endless uncertainties of the future.

i just got back from pretty much the best NDP experience i've ever had. HAHA. beats even having tickets for the parade cos you still have to sit in the sun and rain if you do. we had a perfect view of the very cool aerial display and the fireworks, the comfort of sitting on chairs, nice cool wind, shelter from the sun and rain, a wide array of food choices available metres from us, the TOILET (very important), and lots of fun, laughter, peace and joy (haha sorry, just had to add that).
have i told you how much i love fighter planes? i'll tell you again now :))
sorry ah some pics are pretty blur. me is not pro photog. there were two SLR cameras among us btw and my camera seemed so puny and lousy beside them lolll.
yayy i love this picture :) i think it's pretty obvious where we were already. heh!
even going all the way to lab from there in the middle of the afternoon with the intention of adding my drug but ended up reaching lab just to find out that my cells DIED didn't dampen my spirits for what was to come.
see, i told you i'm not cut out for research. i still have no idea why my cells died. i went through everything in my head already and still haven't figured out what went wrong. zzz. i'm going back tomorrow again to re-do my frickin experiment for the third time.
i officially have no life! and school hasn't even started! omggg.

miserable life!
i've been in lab since 8 am and i have to stay till about 10 pm today, cos i'm running a time course experiment and there's a lot of waiting time involved. 10 frickin pm!! omgggg. why am i not paid for this.
i hope i can smuggle the bf in later tonight so when i'm slogging in the lab i know that there's someone waiting for me in the office :) hehe.
and it's FREEZING here. i have my jacket on but i'm still shivering!
miserable miserable life.
anws we're hooked on this online game which is like the keyboard version of Guitar Hero. hahaha. i need more practice!! my coordination totally sucks. and it's damn bad for the eyes cos at the end of each game all i see are multi-coloured arrows dancing in front of me.
school's starting and there're a million things i wanna do but have no time :((

it sucks when your life is controlled by two 15 cm2 flasks of tiny multiplying cells. today i couldn't stop thinking about them and worrying whether the nutrient medium was depleting so i had to have my dad send me to lab just so i could check on them. the time spent getting there and back was more than the time i spent in the lab. -___- ohm now i know how you feel, when you did the exact same thing one Sunday many many weeks ago. lol!
FYP is so gonna consume my life.
anws i'm getting jittery cos i'm gonna do an actual experiment (like finally) starting Monday. hope my protocol fits and all goes well and i can actually obtain some kind of result at the end of it. sian halfff.
i seriously can't imagine myself doing this for life. like seriously seriously. all that stress!

i caught a glimpse of the NDP preview's aerial display and fireworks at my grandma's place today. i think i'm weird, but i always get this indescribable rush whenever i see AND hear fighter planes zooming overhead :)) mmmmm.
