spent the whole afternoon packing my drawers and cupboard.. went through all the stuff accumulated since eons ago.. silly neoprints and scanned photographs, past concert tickets, wrapping paper from presents (no idea why i kept them haha!), really funny home econs and D&T portfolios, st nicks and tj yearbooks, sn recipe book (which i promptly passed to my mum), hilarious letters dated back to primary school, xmas and birthday cards, letters and postcards by friends whom some of them i no longer keep in touch with, primary school autograph books ('FRIENDS FOREVER' was what every friend wrote), pretty seashells picked off the beaches of countries visited, keychains, posters of orlando bloom, simple plan, blue and -OMGGGGG- F4, and truckloads more..

nostalgia nostalgia nostalgia. :)

i ended up throwing two huge plastic bags of stuff, mostly magazines i no longer read and yes the F4 posters (oh the horror!), and many other things in between.. well, some things are meant to be kept forever, while others are thrown away to make room for the new. that's how life is sometimes, isn't it?

maybe a few years down the road i'll be doing this spring-cleaning thing again, read every single letter and postcard like what i did this afternoon, and smile at the beautiful memories of school.. and life in general.

came across this quote in my jc 1 notebook.. "I know that looking back on the tears would make me laugh, but I didn't know that looking back on the laughs would make me tear." how apt.

on another note, i love fireworks :))) they never fail to take my breath away.

haha this is really cute!

spinning Remember 2.. :)

am such a sucker for love songs. hahaha. so sue me!

She's always on my mind
From the time I wake up 'til I close my eyes
She's everywhere I go
She's all I know
And though she's so far away
It just keeps gettin' stronger, every day
And even now she's gone
I'm still holding on
So tell me where do I start
'Cause it's breakin' my heart
Don't wanna let her go

Maybe my love will come back some day
Only heaven knows
And maybe our hearts will find a way
Only heaven knows
And all I can do is hope and pray
'Cause heaven knows

My friends keep tellin' me
That if you really love her
You've gotta set her free
And if she returns in kind
I'll know she's mine
So tell me where do I start
'Cause it's breakin' my heart
Don't wanna let her go

Maybe my love will come back some day
Only heaven knows
And maybe our hearts will find a way
Only heaven knows
And all I can do is hope and pray
'Cause heaven knows

Why I live in despair
'Cause wide awake or dreaming
I know she's never there
And all the time I act so brave
I'm shaking inside
Why does it hurt me so

Maybe my love will come back some day
Only heaven knows
And maybe our hearts will find a way
Only heaven knows
And all I can do is hope and pray

Maybe my love will come back some day
Only heaven knows
And maybe our hearts will find a way
Only heaven knows
And all I can do is hope and pray
'Cause heaven knows
Heaven knows
Heaven knows

-Rick Price's Heaven Knows

haha okie zPOP charity concert pics are up! thanks to kl for having free tickets :) hee.. it was damn funny.. the boyf and i actually planned to go ice-skating and watch Nacho Libre, then the whole plan was changed (because the thought of ice-skating freaked me out at the last minute) to blading and dinner at ecp.. AND THEN while we were about to reach ecp kl called to say she had free tix for the night! wheeee. haha.

blehhh i still suck at blading :( i can't move at all when i'm not pulled along! sadness. i think i won't ever be able to blade, like really blade properly without people holding me, if i don't overcome my fear of falling down :(

okok back to the charity concert. quite fun hehe.. oy kl i was very high also ok! hahaha.. even though i didn't know around half the songs sang that night.. lol!

stadium waterfront..

i love this shot! :) cos of the colour. that's liang jing ru on the stage btw.

jeff chang's voice is damn good!

duet between jeff chang and harlem yu.

jolin tsai. ehhh don't really like her. but she dances really well!

Vietnam pictures! :)

wedding car outside our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Notre Dame Cathedral, a smaller version of the gorgeous Paris one. built during French colonisation.

saw a church wedding in the cathedral! :))) complete with rose petals on the floor..

Central Post Office.. also built by the French..

on the road..

Cu Chi Tunnels.

American tank.

various scary traps used by the Vietnamese during the war.

Vietnamese guerillas and big-ass bombs.

climbing into the tunnels! caused us to have serious thigh aches cos we had to squat and duck-walk :S although it was only for 30 m :( something tells me i need to buck up on my exercising. hmmmm.

snake wine! gasp! that's a cobra inside the bottle! supposedly good for backaches. ewwww i'd rather suffer the backache. hahaha.

Vietnamese sandals! the bottom-most sandal's like, HUGE! about the length of a laptop.

making rice paper, which is like popiah skin but more plasticky..

War Remnants Museum. really saddening to see photos of the sufferings the people, be it Vietnamese or Americans, had to endure during the war..

war planes..

beautiful egg shell and seashell lacquer paintings!

jamie looking retarded.. hehheh.

my turn!

Mekong River!

boats boats boats..

on the boat to some island. just the 3 of us on one big boat! hahaha VIP.

in the fruit orchard! the bananas are damn small and cute haha.. the longans there suck.. tasteless and with big seeds.

Vietnam loves my name!!

on a sampan! we were highly amused by the hats we were supposed to wear hahaha..

Vinh Trang Pagoda in My Tho City. a mix of French and Vietnamese architecture.

Thien Hau Temple, the oldest temple there.

the various Vietnamese food we ate during the trip: boiled tapioca with crushed peanuts (what the guerillas ate during the war); some chee cheong fun like thingy and fishcake; prawnball noodles; preserved ginger and lian zi with honey lime water; elephant-ear fish and huge glutinous rice ball; beef noodles; famous Vietnamese coffee!

Chinese food is still the best :D

pink bus-stop!

they have F.O.S.! :D

Ben Thanh Market. where we unleashed the typical girl in all of us.. heh.

SEE i told you Vietnam loves my name! hahaha..

view from our hotel.

the crazy cousin and me.

they sell my beloved ben bears!!! :))) omg. hahaha i was so excited. this was at the airport.. i would have bought one if it wasn't USD14 for a small one :(

so that was it.. four days of shopping, learning more about a fellow Asian country, appreciating what i have more, and good company.

just like the Sabah trip, i realise there's much more to the world than what we see. of course, nothing beats going on a holiday to Europe/America/all those typical holidaying places we usually go, but it's good to go to places off the beaten track and experience the culture you'll never get to experience anywhere else.. :)
